Climate[ edit ] Along with the rest of South West England , Ilminster has a temperate climate which is generally wetter and milder than the rest of the country. Seasonal temperature variation is less extreme than most of the United Kingdom because of the adjacent sea temperatures. Most the rainfall in the south-west is caused by Atlantic depressions or by convection. Most of the rainfall in autumn and winter is caused by the Atlantic depressions, which is when they are most active. In summer, a large proportion of the rainfall is caused by sun heating the ground leading to convection and to showers and thunderstorms. About 8—15 days of snowfall is typical.

SOMERSET SOCIAL GROUP ~ THE SOCIAL GROUP. Offering a wide choice of services and events, subject to availability. Bookings properly managed and events professionally organised by our expert team, with our experienced organisers Andrew & Cathy regularly hosting events in person!
The Social Group is the favourite social organisation for singles. The Social Group was set up in the first place because of our own experience of being single and finding it really difficult to meet people and make new friends. Before there was The Social Group, we tried everything, and to be honest, were pretty appalled at the choice… We found the usual sad singles clubs had bizarre rules where women had to agree to dance with any man of any age who asked them, and then had to allow themselves be hit on in a really creepy way.
We found other local clubs who almost forced people to hold events in their own homes, paying to cater for the horde of complete strangers who descended upon them. We found the stereotype dodgy dating agencies cost an arm and a leg, and the upshot was you found yourself sitting next to just one person of the opposite sex who was totally unsuitable, both of you feeling extremely awkward and pressured.
We found the classified ads had no safeguards at all — and we were told some real horror stories of meeting the types of people you definitely would not wish to mix with. We understood that not everyone had time for an expensive night school class, or wanted to put their life at risk going parachuting or bungee jumping with a gung-ho extreme sports company.
There was just nothing really suitable. There had to be a better way… So, we came to the conclusion, that to get what we wanted, we would have to set it up and run it ourselves. And to run it properly, that would require a proper office and full time staff, so we would need to charge for the service. But the end result would be to offer something a lot better!
Not everyone who is single is looking for a partner — or wants it to look obvious! Of course, many of our large number of single members are looking for romance — and The Social Group is ideal. Naturally, many single people would like to meet a partner and The Social Group is the very best way to do just that.

The name Yeovil is believed to be a corruption of the Celtic word Gifl, meaning forked river. In time the Saxon village grew into a little town. By the time of the Domesday Book it was a flourishing community though it would seem tiny to us with a population of not more than 1, Yeovil or Givle, as it was then known, had a weekly market. In those days there were very few shops so if you wished to buy or sell anything you had to go to a market.
