With an original manufacturing and performance use history that extends over a year period, virtually every intake fashion and style has been produced for the FE, albeit in far fewer variations than for the more popular engines. The throttle body looks remarkably like a Holley carb, which is great for anyone wanting classic looks and modern performance. Much of the system is encased right inside the throttle body—and that includes the ECU. It flows cfm and can support up to horsepower. Holley figured out a way to mount the ECU within the throttle body. Internally, the throttle body is fitted with four injectors just like the Stealth system.

I went thru all the typical BS with trying to tune the stumble that carb is known to have. Ended up way rich on the primary jets, plus a good amount of tuning to the accel pump to get most of it away.
It wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was something you could deal with. Stomp on it and it was great.. The fuel milage sucked with the primary’s as they were too. I have had good luck with the Edelbrock carbs and drivability and was planning on going that direction, just never got around to it over that last year or two.
I saw the ad for this new Street Demon and it looked like it might fit the bill.. You can look at the ads for the carb to see all the details. I had issues with heat soak on the Holley, so the plastic fuel bowl sounded like a good idea. Here’s the good with the carb so far The throttle response is nothing short of excellent. The rebuild never seems to last and some of the areas like leaking around linkage and dry gaskets are often not fixable. They are too complicated, too hard to adjust, and in a difficult place to work on. I have a new engine, is the old carb still correct for the heavy breather? In a squarebore, the bores are closer to the same size, though, in some squarebore carbs, like cfm Holleys, the primaries may be noticeably smaller than the secondaries. However, even then the bores share the same centerline. Many aftermarket intakes, such as mine, and the Edelbrock Performer and RPM, etc, are “dual pattern” intakes the area where the carb bolts on looks like a butterfly.
Either a squarebore OR spreadbore can be physically be mounted on them with no adaptors.
There was a much wider spread between the poorest performing and the strongest dual-carb intakes compared with the four-barrel manifolds. There was also no undisputed winner in the twin category.
