by Joanne BarkanI loved this story as a child, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I would love the book.I may be 30, but it still makes me cry at the end!My kids and I have read this book every Christmas since my daughter was three. She's eight now and it's still a favorite with all three of my children.I have a feeling we'll bring it out every Christmas even after they're all grown up!
The story touches on all the elements of a good Christmas story, but it's much abbreviated from the televised Christmas special. It's a story about friendship, love, and not always needing to be the center of attention. Not only does it focus on the Christmas spirit, but it also leaves children with a strong message of how to treat other people.
It's really kind of nice to have a story that's got nothing to do with the religious aspect of Christmas, yet also doesn't include Santa in any way, shape, or form. It's just about a bunch of toys learning to love one another, and to accept new friends into their family as they do at Christmas time every year.It really is a beautiful story!
