by Osamu MizutaniA collection of explanations of how interpret everyday Japanese phrases which translate seemingly inappropriately for a variety of situations in English. In other words, a book that explains what is really being said. How do they call that? Colloquialisms? Idioms? As such? Much of the "that's what X really means" was already known to me as I've had the great privilege of being under exceptional teachers. However, the unknown tidbits, extra cultural notes, and reinforcement are all pleasantly valuable. I recommend this for students of the language.
